Infiniti has created the G37 hardtop convertible which is still as elegant as it coupe sibling in its visual appeal. While the retractable roof and beefy structural bracing add 450 pounds to the car’s volume, the G37’s driving experience also has been largely maintained. What that means is fast acceleration, glorious ride and handling, and a cockpit that’s among the most beautiful around. Lowering the roof takes nothing more than a long thirty-second button press. Air movement is well controlled inside the cabin, particularly with the optional wind blocker. In order to maintain the G37’s seductive silhouette, Infiniti had to relocate the rear suspension’s upper mounting points so the top would fit in the trunk.
It does fit in that trunk now but it now leaves virtually no room for cargo. Once the top is down, you’d be hard-pressed to fit much of anything back there. That is, if you can get the trunk open to begin with. Its heavy lid lacks any kind of handle and is tricky to open. In spite of the lack of cargo space, the G37 is still fun to drive (for just you and one other passenger!)
