Earlier this month we let you know that GM would officially begin selling brand new vehicles on eBay this month. Well, the programs been underway for a while now with some not-so-great results. It seems that the partnership has only generated 45 sales in the 9 days that the program has been live. To put this into perspective, there are currently 16,000+ vehicles listed on the site.
The program is far from a failure, however, as eBay says the new GM site has generated over 630,000 visits along with an additional 960,000 searches for listed GM vehicles.
We’ll just have to give the program a bit of time to run its course before we deem it a success or failure as this whole idea of bidding on brand new cars is still a very new concept.

Anyway, the deal between GM and Ebay is like the desperate leading the desperate. Ebay’s reputation is so badly tarnished that nobody will trust anything sold on or thru that site that’s over 100.00 in value. Also, GM is not so stunningly solid in the reputation department either. For decades they flaunted inferior products with large price tags and now they are paying dearly for it. They may never again regain the public’s confidence. The “Big Three” are now Toyota, Honda & Nissan – a title they EARNED!
