
General Motors is going to close another plant. It’s the Grand Rapids metal and die plant which will be shut down by the end of 2009. Yesterday the company announced that the Janesville SUV assembly plant will be closing down by the end of 2008. Similarly, the Moraine plant in Ohio will close by the end of the year.
1,340 hourly workers and 180 salaried employees are going to loose their jobs once the Grand Rapids plant will be closed down. The employees will be eligible for 48 weeks of supplemented unemployment that will add up to the majority of their base wage.
