No matter how much security we will be inventing for our cars, car thieves will invent new ways to steal our cars. That’s the nature of things. So let’s look at this fingerprint scanner for our cars. Two graduate students from the China University of Geoschences came up with a prototype device which will check two important things before letting you start the car: it will scan the fingerprint to see if you are one of the designated drivers and then it will analyze the sweat on your fingers to determine if you are indeed the designated driver of the evening.
Sounds like a good idea to me, but will it be picked up by manufacturers?
