Eaton is well known for supercharging muscle cars but the company wants to get a piece of the new hybrid market. A writeup on its website says that Eaton is working on a fuel saving hydraulic hybrid system. The new system will get you a high-efficiency diesel engine and a custom hydraulic propulsion system which will save you some gas. Regenerative breaking is also used and the engine can be shut off when not needed. That will save you some additional fuel when you’re waiting at a stoplight. UPS trucks will see the system first but others might be interested in it in the future.
