Vath V58 tunes SLK55 to 565 HP

The AMG tuned Mercedes SLK55 Roadster already packs a 5.5 liter V8 which produces almost 400 HP, but the tuning guys at Vath weren’t impressed, they took the little thing at tuned the engine to an impressive 565 HP — in a car that small! The price? Twice as much as the original AMG SLK Roadster.

2011 Mercedes C-Class spy shots

Time for another round of spy shots, dead readers. This time, it’s Mercedes’ entry class, the C-Class sedan that’s been photographed in its upcoming 2011 edition. You’ll notice that the headlights have received a slight change, and the back certainly looks more like and E-Class now. More pics here.

AMG unveils 5.5L biturbo V8

Mercedes’ performance division at AMG have unveiled a new engine which will power most of its performance cars in the future: the 5.5 liter biturbo V8, which will, from now on, be the replacement for the large 6+ liter AMG engines that used to be seen in AMG Mercedes cars. The new engine will debut later this year in the 2011 S63 AMG, where it will produce 563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, while delivering 22.4 mpg — an improvement across the board from the previous 6.2 liter AMG engine.

Mercedes to launch B-Class hatchback in the U.S.

According to a new report, Mercedes is set to launch a B-Class hatchback in the U.S. Mercedes plans to launch the next version of the B-Class in Europe next year, and it now appears that it will expand the market to the U.S. and Canada as well.

Brabus unveils new E-Class with 800HP, 1000 lbs torque

For a while now, Brabus has been tuning Mercedes cars to the point of complete uselessness. When you pack a massive engine in a car, one which delivers over 1000 lbs of torque, you’re only going to burn out your tires every time you stomp on the speeder. But Brabus doesn’t really care, and they’ve done exactly that.

The new Brabus Mercedes E-Class coupe packs a V12 engine which produces 800 HP and a staggering 1000 lbs of torque. You can tow a jumbo jet with that much power. Or a freight train.

SLS AMG F1 Safety Car

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG F1 Safety Car has finally been unveiled, and will take over duties as the new, official safety car of Formula 1. It should be able to coral the F1 pack, with its AMG made 570HP engine, it’ll keep up with the F1s. At least for a while.

Mercedes unveils the F800 concept car

Just ahead of the Geneva Auto Show, Mercedes has unveiled the rather futuristic looking F800 concept car, which might be an indication as to where it’s taking its upcoming CLS refresh towards. The front grill certainly appears quite identical to the one on the SLS AMG. The F800 will be seen in person at Geneva, not just a render as you see above.

Mercedes-Benz BlitzenBenz Concept Car

Today we have another concept car, this time from the makers of Mercedes Benz. The concept car is the Mercedes Benz BlitzenBenz, a car designed by George Yoo. It features an exterior that is designed to act as the base for an organic structure to sprout out and form itself.

It also features wheel pods which are held in place by this so-called organic component. These same components act as sensors which open up once the need for cooling becomes apparent. This organic-based designed concept was inspired by the bioluminescent capabilities of deep sea creatures. This is one weird looking concept although the design is obviously geared towards something eco-friendly as you can see.

Cadillac ATS Sedans To Compete with BMW 3 Series?

Banking on its successful launch of the Cadillac CTS and XTS, Cadillac is now focusing its attention on another car segment, the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C-Class. And to do this, they are prepping the Cadillac ATS Sedans to break the ice, followed by a slew of vehicles in the mold of wagons, convertibles and coupes.

The ATS Sedans are expected to come out some time this year. Once that happens, you can be that the other variants will follow immediately. Are BMW and Mercedes bothered? Well as they say, bring it on and let’s see!

F1 testing going on in Valencia

The F1 is being tested in Valencia with 13 teams participating, which include the new Mercedes GP car, shown in the photo above. Other teams, such as Campos, Lotus, US F1, and Virgin racing are also expected to test by the end of this month. I’m not certain whether the end of this month means January or February, but that is a direct quote from my source.

McLaren announces 2010 F1 car

A day after Ferrari unveiled their F1 car for the new season, McLaren has unveiled the rival car, called MP4-25. Tech specs are confidential, of course, but as you can see on the image above, it has altered aerodynamics, and doesn’t resemble many of the other cars announced so far.

SLS AMG production begins

Mercedes has begun production of their most anticipated GT car in decades, the SLS AMG. The entire car will be manufactured in Germany, from the aluminum body to the 6.3-liter V8 engine, which will, as you might have expected, be made by the geniuses at AMG. The car will be available later this year for the neat price of $250,000.
