Buick has today announced that their next mid-size sedan will be none other than the Regal. You may be familiar with the name Regal in relation to Buick as Autoblog reports around 6 years ago they had a model with the same name.

The 2010 Buick Regal for the North American market will be based on the Chinese sedan of the same name but other than that we have no information regarding what will be under the hood or what cosmetic changes, if any, will apply.

Cash for Clunkers may be dead and gone but that doesn’t mean automakers are stopping the incentives. One such company that shall go unnamed (GM) is really looking to recoup from the recession having recently announced their Satisfaction Guaranteed campaign.

This campaign is simple, buy any Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicle, try it out and if before 60-days is up you find you don’t like the car, return it to your GM dealership for a full refund. Sure, you may not be getting cash back but this campaign, which runs from September 14th to November 30th, is sure to spur sales in GM’s favor.

If you are looking forward to the coming of the Crossover Buick, we are sad to inform you that it has been officially cancelled by General Motors. The supposed vehicle garnered a lot of negative feedback from the media, employees and dealerships, considering the direction that the company is planning to take. And in the end, GM just shelved the program and decided to transfer the Vue’s plug-in hybrid powertrain to another vehicle by 2011.

There is no word on which vehicle the plug-in hybrid powertrain would be transferred to. But in all, it seems that this development coincides with the new outlook that GM is envisioning. And from the look of it, it is back to the drawing boards for GM, a move that may be one of the wisest they may be making to date.

We’ve known about the GM/eBay partnership since early last month but haven’t heard much about its progress since. Today, however, we have some concrete details on when exactly the program will go live.

It seems that GM is gearing up to launch a trial of the program tomorrow through September 8th in California thanks to 225 of their dealerships whom will be participating. Included in this new car auction campaign are Chevrolet, Pontiac, GMC and Buick models which you can bid on by going to gm.ebay.com or chevy.ebay.com. Of course, those two websites won’t go live until tomorrow when the program is officially set to.

If this program proves to be in GM’s best interest I see no reason why the automaker wouldn’t launch it nationwide.

GM has today detailed their intentions to produce a plug-in hybrid version of their Buick Crossover which will make its debut sometime in 2011. Included above is a teaser image of said car.

Under the hood, the hybrid Crossover will feature a 4 cylinder 2.4-liter Ecotec engine with direct injection but that’s about the extent of details we have regarding the car’s motor. In terms of fuel efficiency GM says that the car will have double the fuel economy of similarly sized SUVs.

Buick announced today that it will be ending its PGA Tour sponsorship. The automaker was with the golf scene for fifty-one years. However, this doesn’t mean it’s the ending of all PGA-Buick partnerships, as revealed by a statement by the company:

“While this is disappointing news, both the PGA Tour and Buick remain in discussions regarding future sponsorship possibilities,” the statement said. However, with GM still recovering from its Chapter 11 filing, don’t expect to see the Buick name at any PGA Tour events anytime soon.”

Last Thursday rumors began circulating that GM was gearing up to begin leasing select models again thanks to their new restructuing plan.

Well, today the official announcement has been that GM will in fact start leasing Buick, GMC, Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles thanks to a new financing deal with US Bank. The leasing program is currently only in a testing phase and will run through August 31st in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Michigan and Ohio.

The models that will be made available for lease are the Chevrolet’s Malibu, Traverse and Equinox, Cadillac’s CTS and SRX, Buick’s Enclave and GMC’s Acadia.

Controversial General Motors is sitting on pins and needles lately. Bankrupt seems to be their middle name these days although they are pinning their hopes on one car to help bring them some light in the midst of the darkest hour of their legacy. And the car tasked to bring in some glory to the embattled GM brand is the 2010 Buick LaCrosse.

The 2010 Buick LaCrosse is GM’s entry to compete with the likes of Acura, Lexus and Toyota models as far as midsized luxury sedans are concerned. Though it has become a familiar car for gated Florida retirement communities, GM is hoping for one last push for the sagging American car brand.

The car comes with a choice of two V-6 engines or a four-cylinder one that gets up to 30 mpg on the highway. The larger 3.6-liter engine puts out 280 horsepower and should go from zero to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds, according to Buick.

“Buick definitely has a significant challenge,” she said. “It is a brand that for over 100 million Americans, a combination of Generation X and Generation Y, it’s a tainted brand.”

GM, though, isn’t going for the next generation just yet. Its target market for the LaCrosse, according to Bierley, is people in their mid-40s and 50s. Those are people likely to have the money to buy it, with a base price of US$27,835.

In a marketing move, General Motors has reportedly combine three of its most recognized brands; Buick, Pontiac and GMC into one sales and marketing channel – which means many dealers, who had one or two of the brands previously, will now sell all three under one roof. GM says each brand will play to its strengths – Buick larger, premium cars; Pontiac sportier cars; and GMC pickups, SUV’s and Crossovers. This will create a middle sales channel, between GM’s global value brand Chevrolet and its high-end luxury brand, Cadillac.

At the 2009 New York International Auto Show, GMC debuted two new models. The all-new 2010 Terrain is a five-passenger crossover SUV that blends bold styling with fuel efficiency and premium features. The all-new 2009 Yukon Denali Hybrid was also unveiled. A luxurious, full-size SUV that seats eight, it tows up to 5,800 pounds and achieves and estimated 21 miles per gallon in city driving, thanks to the patented 2-mode hybrid system.

The Yukon Denali Hybrid arrives in May in dealer showrooms. It joins the Yukon Hybrid and the Sierra Hybrid pickup truck in the hybrid lineup, making GMC the first manufacturer to offer three full-size hybrid models.

By now we are all aware that the fourth installment to the Fast and the Furious movie will be hitting the screens, towing a number of new vehicles in the film that has everyone excited. General Motors is busy working out a potential scheme that will allow them to reinvent the 2010 Buick LaCrosse in China. Apparently, China has a large demand for luxury cars, opening opportunities that can perhaps entice an aggressive approach towards matching actual car demands for the said auto line.

Buicks in China are often used to carry company executives, hence the attention to detail in the backseat in terms of comfort and accessories. Options on the LaCrosse include a rear-window power sunshade and two seatback display screens connected to a DVD system.

Supported with the proper figures, this development can be a big break for the embattled Detroit-based car manufacturer. If all goes well, then perhaps it can look forward to better days to improve their car sales.

When GM woke up this morning the financial crisis wasn’t over. That’s how it decided to cancel the appearance of the Cadillac CTS Coupe and the Buick LaCrosse at the next LA Auto Show in November. That’s how GM figured out it will decrease production costs for the time being.

The two cars will be delayed. The Buick is arriving in January in Detroit while the Cadillac doesn’t have a specific date. Too bad we aren’t going to see either one of the new versions soon. Hopefully things are going to change sooner than later, or we’ll end up all buying scooters and bikes!

A General Motors plant in Oshawa, Ontario which makes dependable W-platform vehicles like the Chevrolet Impala or the Buick LaCrosse has just been awarded with a rare J.D. Power and Associates award.

The Power’s Founder’s Award is given to people and corporations which are uncommonly dedicated to continual improvement for customers. Gary Dilts who is the VP for U.S. automotive practice at J.D. Power, presented the award to plant manager Dan Hermer and Chris Buckley, president of CAW local 222.

Congratulations to GM for such an accomplishment. I guess more automakers should work as hard as the Oshawa plant to get better cars for us.
