Friday, March 19th, 2010

Mazda has unveiled a Special Edition MX-5, which sports a matte black paint job, and that’s about it. The car still sports the same, 2.0 liter engine which chugs out 167 HP. No news on how many matte black colored MX-5s Mazda will produce, or their price.

Friday, March 19th, 2010

According to new rumors, the Rolls-Royce Phantom will be getting a complete overhaul in 2016, a good 13 years after it was first released in 2003. By any stretch, that’s a long time for a car without any major updates, but not for the Phantom, apparently.

A few days ago we let you know you know of some rumored prices of the forthcoming Nissan LEAF EV. Well, today the automaker has announced that their Sunderland production plan in the UK will begin making the car in 2013.

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Japanese automaker Mitsubishi has revealed that their newly released SUV in Japan, the ASX, has sold a whopping three times more than they expected it to sell. The simplistic dash of the McLaren MP4-12C

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Yesterday we reported that McLaren has begun production of the MP4-12C, and now we get to see the insides, more particularly, the simplistic dashboard, which is exactly the way it should be in a supercar. The car features an on board system that’s powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU and Microsoft software — the latter part might be a bit concerning, considering you don’t wanna get hit with a blue screen of death while doing 150 MPH on the track.

Lexus LFA rental starts at $12,400 per month

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Want a Lexus LFA but can’t afford the full price tag of $375,000? No worries, you can rent one for just $12,400 over 24 months. Oh, and you need to put down the $300,000 on the day of signing. Yep, completely and utterly outrageous for a car that looks like a Nissan GT-R with a slightly more powerful engine.

2011 Ford Mustang to be the new NASCAR pace car

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

While F1 has the stunning Mercedes SLS AMG as its pace car, the NASCAR folks are going with something more common: A Ford Mustang. While it’s the least powerful Mustang, with a 3.7 liter V6 and 305 Hp, it’s more than enough to keep the 100 MPH or so pace to keep the herd of NASCARs at bay.

Nissan Leaf priced?

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

The last we heard of the Nissan Leaf was when it was announced to be going into production sometime this year in late January. What we’ve yet to hear, however, is a solid price point for the car. However, rumors have just arose that say the Japanese version is going to cost between 3.5 and 4 million yen. That translates to between $38,000 and $44,000. Of course, Autoblog makes a valid point that these won’t necessarily translate into North American prices as rumors have been floating around that it will be under $30,000 after the federal tax credit.

If, however, these are the North American prices, Nissan is going to have to do something big in terms of marketing to get this vehicle into the hands of the consumers.

McLaren to begin production of the MP4-12C

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

McLaren is set to begin the production of its sportscar, the MP4-12C tomorrow, and is the first car made exclusively by McLaren since the famous F1. The MP4-12C sports a 3.8-liter mid-mounted V8 engine delivering 600 horsepower. The car will be available for purchase later this year, at a decent price tag of $150,000. At least decent when you compare it to a similarly specced Ferrari or Lambo.
