Toyota recalls the Tundra. But only 2 vehicles.

To make all the matters worse for Toyota, the company has now recalled the Tundra trucks for a drive shaft problem. However, it’s not that bad, since the recall includes a whopping two (2!) vehicles. Yep, that’s it.

Honda recalls 400,000 vehicles due to brake problems

Honda has recalled 410,000 vehicles of the brand Odyssey and Element due to a brake problem. According to Honda, the brake pedal can soften up, which requires more pressure to brake the car. The pedal can soften up so much that braking can be partially lost.

GM recalls 1.3 million Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s

GM has announced some disturbing news: it’s recalling 1.3 million Chevrolet Cobalts as well as Pontiac G5s that were build between 2005 and 2010. The recall is due to the electric motors that provide assisting in steering, these motors can eventually wear out and fail to provide adequate steering for the driver.

Two Minutes of Crashes From 24 Hours of LeMans

In case you’re not already familiar, 24 Hours of LeMans is the oldest endurance-based automobile race on the face of the planet, a race that’s held every year and has been so since 1923. Just like the name implies, the race lasts for twenty four straight hours, which is a test of skill just as much as it is a test of endurance.

And as such, you can figure there will be a whole lot of nasty wrecks going on in such an event, if for no other reason that a lot of people are tearing around a track without a whole lot in the way of, you know, sleep.

This gives rise to the following video, showing us two solid minutes of crack-ups and crashes from the long running 24 Hours of LeMans race series. The full video is below, and rest assured, it will have all the crashes you could possibly want and then some, so if you’re a crash fan, enjoy.

Honda extends airbag related recall

Back in August, Honda recalled 400,000 vehicles due to defective airbags, and now, they’ve added another 378,758 vehicles to the list. The issue deals with airbags which can inflate too much during a discharge, and hurt the occupants of the car.

Toyota dealers to receive $75,000 due to extra hours

The seemingly never ending story about Toyota’s woes with the brake pedals keeps getting more and more attention. This time, it’s about all the Toyota dealers out there, who’ll be dealing with the brake pedals, and according to a report, they’ll receive up to $75,000 for the extra hours they’re working these days.

Toyota market value drops $21 billion in one week

The storm about the recalls and defective pedals is doing some serious damage to Toyota, not just PR wise, but financially as well, as one might expect. Specifically, over $21 billion of Toyota’s market value has been wiped out because of slumping share prices just last week, where the share dropped 14%.

Is Your Toyota Safe?

You’ve probably heard a lot about the Toyota recall in the last few days–and it’s probably surprised you. You’ve come to consider Japanese cars easily the equal of American cars and in some cases, even better. So you’ve probably been pretty unnerved to hear about troubles with the Toyota line.

But that’s okay–it’s natural to be shocked when something like this happens. So what I’m going to suggest is you pour a cup of tea (coffee’s all right too, but tea’s probably better for relaxing), sit back, and take a deep breath.

First off, if your Toyota just turned three or younger, you’ll only be affected if your Toyota answers to the name “Avalon”. And even then there’s nothing to worry about if your car is older than five.

If your Toyota does fall into one of those brackets, check the Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN, and call your dealership.

There’s a video below from the folks at Edmunds that’ll go into a little more depth, so stay calm and don’t worry. Chances are you’ll be fixed in short order.

Congress schedules Toyota recall hearing next month

The aftermath of Toyota’s massive recalls over the past few weeks and months are still present, as just after announcing that they’ve recalled another 1.8 million vehicles in Europe, Toyota executives will be heading to Capitol Hill to answer questions from United States House of Representatives, where a hearing will be held on February 25. Over the past three months, Toyota has recalled 10 million units worldwide.

Toyota recalls 1.8 million vehicles in Europe

After the whole recall debacle that’s been going with Toyota and pedal issues in the US, many wondered whether it’ll affect the European cars. Well, it has, and Toyota has now officially recalled 1.8 million vehicles in Europe, which include the same models that were recalled in the US (all 2.3 million of them).

Alfa Romeo gets new CEO

Alfa Romeo parent company Fiat has appointed Harald Wester as the new CEO of the Italian niche car maker. Harald Wester is already the CEO of Maserati, and will serve as CEO of both companies. Alfa Romeo’s previous CEO, Sergio Cravero, will take over as Fiat’s head of product planning instead.

Toyota recalls 2.3 million more vehicles

The stuck accelerator issues for Toyota are piling up, the car maker has revealed that it plans to recall another 2.3 million vehicles because of the accelerators might get stuck. A few months ago, Toyota recalled 4 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles over an unrelated issue.

2008 Limited Edition Chevrolet Corvette Up for Auction

General Motors will be donating the full proceeds for the auction of a limited edition 2008 Chevrolet Corvette to the American Red Cross which is now busy helping the people over at Haiti. The 2008 Corvette was the last of the 427 cars built for North America.

The vehicle features a 7.0L V8 engine that is good up to 505 HP. It boasts of spider design chrome Z06 wheels, Z06 plates, a Stinger-style stripe on the front hood and fascia, chrome exterior badges and a painted Z06 spoiler and body color door handles. Inside, the Corvette contains a Dark Titanium leather-wrapped interior and special Crystal Red center trim plate.
