Can Speed Limiters Help Avoid Accidents

Speed limits are certainly familiar in most parts of the world and while we all know them by mind, a lot has to be said when in comes to actually following them. Road accidents have risen in various states and many of them are caused by going above the speed limit, especially if you see a wide open road ahead of you. But now it looks like a new type of device that aims to enhance the actual speed limits that are set may help curb these accidents and finally remind people that they may be going beyond the speed limit at times they are tempted to see how fast they can go.

Fitting speed-limiting devices in cars could prevent up to 29% of injury accidents on the roads, a report by a Government advisory body said.

The Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) said there would be real benefits in the voluntary introduction of intelligent speed adaption (ISA).

This is a driver-assistance system that brings local speed-limit information into the vehicle.
