3rd Annual Infinity Cares Award Addresses High School Drop Out Epidemic
LOS ANGELES -- Infinity Insurance Companies today announced that Javier Rodriguez of Risco Insurance Services (www.riscoins.com) in South Gate, California is the 2007 Infinity Cares Award recipient.
The award recognizes independent insurance brokers and agents in California for their commitment to the communities they serve. As part of the Award, Infinity will donate $2000 to the Works of Power Good Samaritan Scholarship Foundation (http://scholarship.worksofpowerinc.org/).
Works of Power, Inc. is a registered non-profit organization founded by Mr. Rodriguez and his wife, Martha, to empower individuals to become leaders through advanced education. The Works of Power Good Samaritan Scholarship provides assistance for students in the Los Angeles area who demonstrate community leadership, academic merit, and financial need.
The Infinity Cares Award comes on the heels of a June 20th, 2006 USA Today article(1) citing research that shows urban Los Angeles high school districts have on-time graduation rates below 50 percent . Glen Godwin, Infinity Insurance President, stated "We're proud to partner with local small business owners such as Javier who are passionate about investing in their communities. The Good Samaritan Scholarship provides LA youth with the promise of even more opportunity after graduating high school."
Since inception, the Infinity Cares Award has supported agents and brokers who volunteer their time to organizations that enhance educational, cultural and other needs in local communities. Previous recipients earned donations for the TLC Children's Center in Oakhurst, CA, and the Pomona Valley Workshop (www.pvwonline.org). In order to qualify, the organization must be a registered non-profit [501(c) (3)] and show a history of giving. The agency or brokerage need not be appointed with Infinity Insurance.
Mr. Rodriguez will be personally recognized for his efforts at the Latin American Agents Association Convention (http://latinagents.com/convention/convention.htm) in Long Beach, CA on Saturday, June 16th at 5:00 p.m.
