Saab's Convertible Scarf
Osman Yousefzada Creates The Ultimate Scarf for Convertible Driving
Thanks to the 'Chlamys' - the ultimate convertible-driving scarf created exclusively for premium Swedish car maker Saab by Osman Yousefzada, women everywhere can set off in their sexy convertibles, confident that they will arrive more Audrey Hepburn and less Bridget Jones.
Fashion designer Osman Yousefzada has designed the Chlamys, the latest in driving accessories, for the Saab 9-3 Convertible. The creation of the Chlamys extends the relationship between the Swedish car designer and Osman Yousefzada, beyond sponsoring a second season of the designer at London Fashion Week. The Chlamys will be given to the first 50 female Saab 9-3 Convertible buyers in the UK and will also be available through the Saab website* and key stockists of Osman Yousefzada.
Made from luxurious, fine gauge cashmere, the Chlamys has been created around an ancient Greek cloak design, used by soldiers for travelling and riding. Updated by Osman Yousefzada for the 21st Century, the Chlamys provides the ultimate warmth and style for women travelling in convertible cars. Two colour ways have been created for the Chlamys in a fusion blue and silver metallic, reflecting both the Saab model colour palette and the Osman Yousefzada SS07 collection.
Collette Dunkley, General Motors Communications Director comments: "Saab asked Osman to design a garment with the iconic Saab 9-3 Convertible in mind. The Chlamys that Osman has created is the perfect accessory for our female customers who appreciate simple, yet cutting edge design and quality." Osman Yousefzada, commented: "This is the second season I have worked with Saab and it feels very natural to be working with a brand that places such a heavy emphasis on bringing together design and functionality in their products.
"When they asked me to create a design for the Convertible, I drew inspiration from a statue of a Greek soldier wearing a mantle. Part of the mantle was wrapped over the arm and the other part was hanging. This was ideal, because it wouldn't slip or fall off and can be used it in lots of different ways - it can be a scarf, a shawl, or a cardigan."
Saab chose to work with Osman Yousefzada as both share the same appreciation for clean, sleek lines and silhouette contours.
