Caveat Emptor Lesson From the TV Show Cops
"Another curb side auto sale at its finest." That was the quote from a cop on the Cops TV show who managed to get a woman her $600 she paid for a car refunded.
The car didn't go in reverse, and the cops knew they couldn't interfere in a private party contract, but -- they figured out a way to write the seller a bunch of citations and "convinced" him to give the woman her money back.
The woman got lucky, because she had no right to the money back -- the money and title had switched hands, though the seller left the date of sale off the title which is how the cops threatened him to give up the cash.
Caveat emptor, people, let the buyer beware.
