Ad Age Writer Slammed for Critique on Dodge Fairy Ad

dodgefairy.jpgWhen I read this Ad Age commentary complaining about the use of an animated fairy in the new Dodge Caliber ads, I meant to write a piece saying, that no, the fairy has nothing to do with gays and is not offensive.

While I still am of the opnion that the author, Bob Garfield, is simply wrong in his assertion that the Dodge fairy is a veiled affront to gay men, you have got to go to the article to read the comments!

As of this writing, 2 days after Garfield's piece was posted, 63 people have commented, nearly unanimously condemning Garfield for being 100% wrong.

Keep in mind that many of these commenters work in advertising and marketing, a gay-friendly field, and several write in as self-identified gays who find no problem with the ad. Yes, there are a few who agree with Garfield, but they are the minority. I'm glad sometimes for comments on websites, because in this case they police the writer for having an out of bounds opinion.
