DUI Object Lesson

Hitchhiker.jpgThe Washington Post has an article today about a guy who lost his license ten years ago due to a DUI conviction, and while the overall theme of the article is the man's quest to help create more mass transit in the DC Metro area, to us the origin of the story sticks out.

Ten years! A decade of not being able to drive to work, of having to go through incredible contortions simply to get to his destination -- hitching, cabs, subways, trains, and so on.

To his credit, the subject of the story doesn't blame anyone else for his misfortune, but he remains adamant that more and better public transit needs to be put in place.

So we're using this story as one of our once in a while reminders that drinking and driving is always a bad idea.
