UAW Splinter Group to Picket Detroit Auto Show

UAW_Strike_Poster.jpg

Soliders of Solidarity, a grass-roots UAW group, is putting out the word to rank and file members that they are organizing a picket of the Detroit Auto Show, January 8, from Noon to 4 pm.

The choice of date is no coincidence -- the 8th is a media day, meaning only five or six thousand journalists will be there from around the world. The UAW members will need tall signs so they can be distinguished from the hordes of journos surrounding them. Chances are reporters will outnumber picketers.

Information on the picket can be found at Futureoftheunion.com, where the reason for the March in Detroit is given as:

It is time for working men and women to stand up and demand the respect we deserve. We ask that you join with the Soldiers of Solidarity on the sidewalks surrounding the auto show. Bring your own signs and show support for working families whose very livelihoods are under attack by GM-Delphi.

Now about those ballet dancers ...
