To the Barricades! San Franciscans Smash Gas Guzzlers in the Name of Charity and Zipcar

Today's Zipcar promotion in San Francisco went smashingly well, thank you. To celebrate the opening of their car sharing service in the City, Zipcar put on a car bash promotion, where otherwise peace loving Franciscans ponied up $5 to swing a sledge hammer at a gas guzzling vehicle. It's symbolic of ending the oppression of car ownership.

Proceeds from the event went to a breast cancer fund, and participants were given the opportunity to join Zipcar at half the usual rate, or $25.

We did a podcast on the event yesterday, and if you're interested in Zipcar's car-sharing service, which is now operating in 9 states and 28 cities, check out their website.
