Whether you favor the sedate simplicity of the American burnout or the high-energy, hyperkinetic stylings of the Australian burnout, one thing is true–they’re usually fun to watch.

But sometimes, as you’ll see in the video at the bottom of this post, they have unintended consequences.  You’re looking at a Chrysler Neon, one of the great all time bargain sedans, about to engage in a burnout.  An American style one, too, by all appearances.  But what will happen by the end of the burnout is what will really surprise you.

Perhaps the biggest problem is that this particular Neon is 1. missing a window and 2. a front wheel drive.  And though the video claims the clutch was blown, it sure doesn’t look like the clutch did THAT.  Regardless of what in particular happened, the end result will still be impressive–it’s not every day you see a hood open like that!–and plenty of good chuckles.
