Cancel that last letter you sent to Santa if you were asking for a 2009 Volkswagen R32 to have it parked in your alley. This car will simply not be coming to the USA anymore. Only 5000 units have arrived on American soil and that’s about it for this model.
Volkswagen spokesman Thomas Wegehaupt has confirmed that the R32 will be discontinued in the USA. 2009 will bring you the MK VI Golf Rabbit, a new GTI and maybe another R32. But who knows really? The R32 was too expensive anyway. At $32,995 it’s about $10,000 more expensive than the GTI which will perform quite similarly to the R32.
