The 2009 Jeep Compass is Jeep’s first front wheel drive vehicle. A midsized crossover built on a Dodge Caliber frame, the Compass is lighter and more fuel efficient than the rest of the Jeep line and is fitted with a smaller 4-cylinder engine the generates about 170 horse power to give the Compass a city EPA rating of 23 MPG and a 28 MPG on the highway. The Compass comes in standard and Limited editions, with 17-inch aluminum wheels on the standard edition, and 18-inch aluminum or chrome wheels on the Limited.

Standard features include a single CD player, antilock brakes with built-in traction control, and side curtain airbags. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic transmission.  A stability control system and independent suspension are also both standard on the 2009 Jeep Compass. The MSRP on the 2009 Jeep Compass starts is between $18,200 and $24,400 depending on trim level and options.
