The 2009 Ford Escape is a smaller crossover vehicle with a V-6 engine that is still a good fit for people who like to ride higher in a vehicle than they do in a sedan, but don’t want a gas-guzzling SUV or big truck. The 2009 Escape gets a respectable 21 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway, with the all wheel drive model doing slightly less well. Ford has received a fair share of complaints about clunky responsiveness and dull handling on the Escape, and while some reviews give the 2009 model points for improvement in these areas, lots of ho-hum and even negative reviews continue.
The problem with the 2009 Ford Escape is its lack of brand –recognition, and an honest appraisal of the vehicle reveals nothing particularly special to highlight, which is why lots of speculation exists on whether the Escape will survive past 2009. Ford needs small and midsize vehicles with ‘oomph’ and style right now, and that would not be this vehicle. The MSRP on a 2009 Ford Escape starts at $20,500.
