Saab BlackBird Concept Car Looks Like a Plane

Friday, October 31st, 2008

The Saab BlackBird concept car in the picture here might never be more than just a concept. The car is inspired in the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance plane. The car’s made out of solar-friendly material. That’s right your virtual BlackBird would have four electric motors, one for each wheel, all powered by the sun.

Inside the car we’re going to have an LCD display for the driver and a communication panel for the passenger’s seat. The seats are adjustable to fit the occupants.

The Saab concept looks rather bold. It would be fun to see it on the street. But would you actually buy one if given the opportunity?

Abu Dhabi to Host F1 Races from 2009

Friday, October 31st, 2008

What you see in the picture is the brand new race track in Abu Dhabi. The F1 world is going to get there by the end of the 2009 calendar. The track was designed by the same man who created the Bahrain, Sepang and Valencia tracks. If you’re a fan of either one of them, you will surely enjoy the new one.

The Abu Dhabi race will be quite interesting too. The track runs through a hotel, it has a pit lane that’s placed under the track and it has 20 turns. If you plan to attend the last race of 2009 then you’re going to have a fun weekend. Ferrari World, the Yas Island Marina, a water park and various sports facilities are going to be available.

Nissan’s Forecast Profit Down 66%

Friday, October 31st, 2008

With the current worldwide economical situation, there’s no wonder car companies are trying to cut their losses. Profits are diminished and sales are going in the wrond direction. We’re talking about Nissan today, although it could be any other company.

Nissan announced that it will change its forecast profit for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2009 down by 65.9% to $2.62 billion. That’s not all Nissan is cutting! 200,000 units and about 3,500 jobs are going to also be cut. In case you work for any automaker out there, better make sure your job is still safe!

Volkswagen to Build New Midsize Sedan in Chattanooga

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Volkswagen seems ready to get new midsize sedan out of the Chattanooga plant. We don’t know what it is but the new car will be made for the U.S. market.

The new car’s codename is NMS. Wow that’s like so cool considering it’s the acronym for New Midsize Sedan. The NMW will get a TDI diesel and a double clutch transmission. The car will get a large trunk and a spacious legroom. Well I’d be interested in more features so we’re waiting for a benevolent leak.

Power Your City With Your Car

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

It might really pay off to buy a hybrid. Why is that? Well according to a recent concept idea, your hybrid car might be able to store energy which would be used by your city grid. The notion, V2G or vehicle to grid, will allow vehicles to plug in the city grid while parked and used as a buffer to store power generated in off hours which would be used during peak hours.

That certainly sounds too futuristic but it will all be possible one day. At leas you’ll end up getting some free energy out of it.

2010 Hybrids: Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan to Get You 38 MPG in the City

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

The 2010 Ford Fusion and the Mercury Milan are going to get new powertrains. You’ll be able to choose from a new 2.5L four-cylinder, a 3.0L V6 and a 3.5L V6

The latest revision of Ford’s hybrid powertrain will end up inside your future Fusion Hybrid or Milan Hybrid next year. The powertrain is lighter and less expensive to produce. It’s also more powerful. It uses the same nickel-metal hybrid batteries. The battery pack is 30% smaller in volume than the Escape Hybrid’s pack and it weighs 23% less. The new battery pack uses it’s own AC system to keep things cool. The new hybrid will get you 38 mpg in the city or 5 mpg more than its competitor, the Toyota Camry Hybrid.

Big Oil Companies Giving Biofuels a Bad Name?

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

You remember all the bad press biofuels were getting, right? About how they were causing some culture’s staple foods, like corn and such, to raise dramatically in price?

Well, according to Javier Salgado, CEO of Abengoa Bioenergy, that might be a load of bologna. He is saying that it wasn’t ethanol’s fault at all for the raise in prices, in fact it was oil’s rising price, and the declining economy, that caused the foods to raise in price.

He goes on to say that the oil companies are releasing these synthesized statistics just to make it seem like biofuels are bad for the environement, which is unheard of. Who do you believe?
